Cinder Privacy Policy

Cinder does not require an account and does not collect app analytics, advertising data, or tracking data. Optional link downloads contact external services, and support requests send the information you choose to provide, as described below.

Video processing

Cinder processes videos on your device. Videos and their metadata are not uploaded to Cinder or developer-operated servers for compression.

Photos

If you grant Photos access, Cinder uses it only to select videos, save finished videos, or delete an original when you explicitly request that action.

Files and iCloud Drive

You can keep completed videos inside Cinder or in the Cinder folder in iCloud Drive. iCloud storage and syncing are optional, provided by Apple, and governed by your Apple account and Apple’s privacy policy.

Share Extension

When you share a video to Cinder, the Share Extension receives only the item you selected and passes it to Cinder for local processing.

Downloading from a link

Download from Link is optional and off by default on a new installation. You can enable it in Settings after accepting the Terms of Use. Acceptance is saved and may be preserved when you update the app. Cinder does not ask you to accept the terms again for each download. You can turn the feature off in Settings; doing so does not delete files you already downloaded.

When you ask Cinder to find media at a supported link, it contacts the source service and related hosts to resolve the link and obtain media details, such as a title, thumbnail, channel name, duration, and available formats. Downloads can contain video or audio, depending on the source and available formats. Downloaded videos can also be compressed on your device. Cinder has no in-app browser or content catalog and acts on links you provide.

These requests can disclose the requested URL or media identifier, your IP address, user agent, and request headers to the source, its media or thumbnail hosts, and any extraction service involved. Download requests are not routed through servers operated by Cinder’s developer. The separate YouTubeKit service described below can take part in resolving YouTube links.

YouTube link extraction

Cinder uses YouTubeKit to resolve YouTube links. It attempts extraction on your device and can fall back to the third-party YouTubeKit extraction service at remote-production.youtubekit.dev. When this fallback is used, the service receives the YouTube video identifier and may receive Cinder’s app identifier, made from its developer team and bundle identifiers. It also receives network connection information, including your IP address.

The extraction service can ask the app to make extraction-related network requests and return their response URLs, bodies, status codes, and headers. This exchange helps resolve available media streams. It is separate from video compression: videos you import from Photos or Files are processed on your device and are not uploaded to this service for compression.

External services control their own processing and retention of request data. Cinder’s local cache controls do not delete data held by those services. For questions about a service involved in a Cinder request, contact us.

Local files and settings

Cinder stores settings, job information, temporary working files, thumbnails, terms acceptance, and completed outputs in its local app or shared container. You can clear temporary files from Cinder, and files remain on your device or in your iCloud Drive until you delete them.

Support requests

If you use the Cinder contact form, we collect the name, email address, topic, message, and any optional app or device details you provide. We also retain a one-way hash of the request IP address and the browser user agent for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

Support requests are stored in the 1ar support system and sent to Pavel Larionov by email so the request can be answered. They are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your request.

Apple services

Apple processes App Store distribution, purchases, optional iCloud storage, and any device diagnostics you choose to share under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. Cinder does not add a separate crash-reporting or analytics SDK.

Children’s privacy

Cinder is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app itself has no account system or social features.

Changes

We may update this policy when Cinder’s behavior or legal requirements change. The current version will remain available on this page.
